Headmaster & Staff
Mr. Trevor Barman, B.Sc.,Dip.Ed.,M.Sc. commenced at BMGS in 2003 as Deputy Head (Teaching & Learning). In addition to this administrative role, which includes all areas of academic programming from Years T to 12, Mr. Barman teaches senior students in Earth and Environmental Science.
Prior to joining BMGS, Mr. Barman was Director of Studies at Barker College. During his tenure at Barker College, Mr. Barman was also Acting Deputy Head (2002) and Head of their Science Department (1991-1996). Mr. Barman commenced his teaching career at Shore in 1984, in the Science Department (Chemistry and Geology).
Mr. Trevor Barman
Since joining BMGS, Mr. Barman has implemented programmes on improving boys' education, together with the current programme of 'value adding', which endeavours to raise the predicted examination and assessment outcomes of each student (by between 6 to 10 marks) at each benchmark year of a students' study, i.e. Years 7, 10 and 12.
BMGS is one of only 40 schools in NSW using this system of value adding. As a result of the programmes Mr. Barman has implemented, not only have HSC results of BMGS students continually improved over the past six years, the results are no longer gender-biased towards female students.
Also over the past four years, Mr. Barman has heightened the focus on effective use of technology in the classroom environment, and has had oversight of the integration of technology in all areas of the curriculum from Years T to 12.
Mr. Barman is married to Jenny, who teaches Transition and French in the Preparatory School at Valley Heights, and they have three children attending BMGS, Sarah (Year 12), Matthew (Year 10) and David (Year 7).
Mr. Barman's vision for the school incorporates ensuring the school aims continue to offer the students every opportunity to be themselves at their best, within the existing philosophies of the school - academic endeavour, pastoral care, spiritual development and co-curricular opportunity - whilst building on the strong sense of community and shared educational culture within the school, together with the promotion, encouragement and support of authentic teaching and learning.
