From the Headmaster

Mr. Trevor Barman, B.Sc., Dip, Ed., M.Sc was appointed the 11th Headmaster of Blue Mountains Grammar School in July 2009.

Mr. Barman commenced at BMGS in 2003.  In addition to his senior executive role of Deputy Head (Teaching & Learning), he has taught Earth and Environmental Science, Geography, and Religious and Values Education to senior school students.

I have a great passion for education and I am excited about this new role.   My key focus will be to promote, encourage and support authentic teaching and learning and to continue to build the great sense of community that is so much a part of Grammar.

This is not just about taking new knowledge and skills for myself and others but more so about giving of my/our unique humanity to others and to the community. It involves me, my colleagues, and other members of the community, making a difference in the lives of all those we touch as well as those we will never meet.

I believe students need to be able to make personal meaning from study and learning, appreciate the implications of learning for the trajectory of their lives, and be transformed, through learning, into more capable human beings. Students need to have opportunities to learn and to grow, to experience success, to enjoy themselves, to make friends and to be safe. They need to feel a part of the community and as Peter reminds us in his New Testament letters, to use their gifts for the good of others so all are uplifted, supported and encouraged.
