On 15 December 2016, the Sydney Morning Herald provided a website allowing the top 150 NSW schools of the year to be determined on the basis of their HSC results. BMGS was placed 84th out of 800 secondary schools in New South Wales. The academic results of the cohort of 2016 are testament to a dedicated and highly motivated student body, the culture within the School, the expertise of staff and the strength of the Grammar curriculum from Pre-K through to Year 12.
With successes such as 60 mentions on the HSC Distinguished Achievers List from 29 students in 26 of 33 HSC courses studied at the School; a top ten placing for Studies of Religion 1 (Kate Ridley, 10th in the state); three inclusions on the BOSTES’ showcase nominations for OnSTAGE (Willabel Grindley Bennett, selected), Texstyle (Peggy Grant-Dawes, selected) and Encore (Isabella Schoeler, nominated), the BMGS cohort of 2016 has continued the School’s fine tradition of academic excellence. In addition, Julia Chabros (Year 11) was placed first in the state in Polish Continuers.
Headmaster Mr Trevor Barman said that the BMGS student body is one of which we are very proud.
“Not only have the students cared for each other, the environment, our School, and the wider Blue Mountains community, they also sought opportunities to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, emotionally and collaboratively. They accomplished all this whilst applying themselves in preparation for the Higher School Certificate examinations.”
“It is with great pride that I congratulate the students of Year 12 2016 and sincerely thank all staff who have worked tirelessly over the years to ensure that our students were well-prepared for the HSC and beyond. I also acknowledge the support and involvement of their parents who have worked alongside us to ensure that our Year 12 students would experience such success”.
BMGS congratulates its Class of 2016.
